Overview of NMS Information in the Mixture Folder

Propel Rx provides the ability to transmit detailed information of a narcotic or controlled medication to the NMS. For mixtures, this transmission is triggered by an NMS flag in the Mixture Folder.

The Monitored Drugs List (MDL) is a list of products that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has selected for Monitoring. This list is used as a reference to determine if a submission to the NMS is required for the product being dispensed.

When a Mixture Folder is created with an ingredient on the MDL list, the NMS flag is automatically selected and cannot be changed. For information on the NMS flag in the Drug Folder, see Overview of NMS Information in the Drug Folder.

Viewing the Mixture Folder NMS Flag

To set the NMS flag for a Mixture Folder:

1. Open the Mixture Folder.

2. Locate the NMS checkbox on the Main tab. The NMS checkbox will be ON (checked) if one or more ingredients is on the MDL.

   

Setting Alternative DINs for NMS Mixtures

When a mixture has a DIN that falls under the MDL, then that DIN must be set in the Mixture Folder Alternatives tab for submission to NMS.

To set a PIN for a Mixture Folder for NMS:

1. Open the Mixture Folder.

2. Select the Alternatives tab.

3. Select Add.

4. In the Third Party Plan field, select Drug Benefit - All.

5. In the PIN field, enter the DIN of the drug on the MDL.

   

6. Select Save.
